Who This Affects and What It Fixes
This guide is for small-business employees who use the Outlook desktop app and are missing the Microsoft Teams meeting option when creating calendar invites. Following the steps below will restore the Teams Meeting button in new meeting requests and optionally configure Outlook to automatically attach a Teams link to every meeting you schedule.
Fix 1: Restore the Missing Teams Meeting Button
If the Teams meeting options are not visible when you open a new meeting request in Outlook, work through the following steps in order.
- Restart your computer, then open Outlook and check whether the Teams meeting option has reappeared before continuing.
- In Outlook, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
- Look at the Active Application Add-ins list and confirm that Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is listed there.
- If it is not listed as active, locate the COM Add-ins drop-down at the bottom of the page and click Go…
- In the COM Add-ins dialog, select the checkbox next to Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- Click OK.
- If the Teams meeting option is still unavailable, close Outlook completely and reopen it.
Fix 2: Automatically Add a Teams Link to Every Meeting
If you want Outlook to attach a Teams meeting link to all calendar invites by default, follow these steps.
- In Outlook, go to File > Options > Calendar.
- Enable the option Add online meeting to all meetings.
- Click Meeting Providers.
- Select Microsoft Teams using the radio button.
- Click OK.
Note: If you prefer that Outlook not automatically attach any online meeting link to your invites, you can disable the Add online meeting to all meetings option in the same Calendar settings menu.
