The Windows 11 26H2 Update Is Out, and Yes, It Can Break Things
Windows updates are a fact of life. The 26H2 update for Windows 11 is now out, packaged as a lightweight enablement package, which sounds harmless enough. But I want to be straight with you: any Windows update can break things.
Why We Don’t Just Push Every Update the Day It Drops
We support hundreds of applications across thousands of devices. There is simply no way to test every update against every application before it goes out. Some updates we push quickly because they matter for security. Others we hold back for a while if we know there are problems, and we wait for Microsoft to fix them before we let them loose on your machines.
That is not us being slow. That is us being careful. A broken workstation costs you more than a delayed update ever will.
What This Means for Your Business Right Now
If you are one of my clients, know that we are watching this one. We do our best to get the important updates out fast and sit on the ones that are causing trouble. This is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time thing.
If you are managing your own updates, just be aware. Do not assume a new Windows update is safe the moment it lands. Give it a little time, watch the forums, and if something breaks after an update, that is the first place to look.
