Microsoft Finally Made Windows Settings Backup Automatic
This one is long overdue, and I am glad they did it.
Microsoft has turned on automatic settings backup for Entra-joined Windows devices. Most of our clients are Entra-joined, so unless you are running a local domain controller, this probably applies to you.
What This Actually Does for You
A lot of your Windows and Microsoft 365 settings will now move with you from one computer to the next. So when someone on your team gets a new machine, or you have to swap out a device that died, you are not starting from scratch. The settings follow the user.
That is a big deal for small businesses. Getting a replacement computer set up the way someone had it before takes time, and that time costs money. This makes that whole process a lot easier.
Should Have Done This a Long Time Ago
Honestly, yes. This is one of those things where you wonder what took so long. But it is here now, and if you are already on Microsoft 365 and your devices are Entra-joined, you do not have to do anything special to get it. It is on by default.
Less to manage, less to set up when things go sideways. That is a win.
